I am passionate about helping others live their best lives. After choosing to work full-time instead of attending college at 18, I discovered my love for supporting others through challenging times. My journey through personal hardships, including a family tragedy, taught me the value of coping skills and the importance of therapy. With the support of my social circle and therapy, I overcame obstacles and returned to school, earning my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Maryland’s Global Campus. Now, I’m on the verge of completing my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Bowie State University.
As a therapist intern, my goal is to provide the same empathy and guidance that helped me in difficult times. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and incorporate less traditional methods including narrative therapy, music therapy, and eco-therapy to create personalized, achievable treatment plans. I’m committed to working with you to find the pathways to wellness that will help you find balance and live life to the fullest.

Hello! I’m Sarah, and I am an intern level therapist. I am a PhD student studying Clinical and Health Psychology at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). I graduated in 2019 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Sociology, and will be earning my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at the end of 2023. Once my studies are complete, I hope to become a licensed counselor and use my clinical and research skills to administer and develop quality, accessible mental healthcare.
The beginning of my studies was research intensive, and I have held a position as a researcher within the UTEP Latino Alcohol Health Disparities Research and Training Center for nearly five years. I’ve broadened my experience in studying alcohol and addiction to developing an extensive knowledge of evidence-based practices and interventions to help my future clients with a wide array of mental health issues and therapeutic goals. This prepared me to effectively treat clients at my university’s Counseling and Psychological Services Center.
Education in both Clinical and Health Psychology has taught me to value treatment as well as prevention. I believe therapy is applicable to more than just “fixing” issues. It can (and ought to) be utilized to help accomplish all sorts of goals to improve and maintain one’s quality of life. As someone who has been on both sides of the therapy couch, I look forward to creating safe, productive alliances with all my clients moving forward!
